Beginning November 1st, Wisconsin state law prohibits utilities from disconnecting essential services to residential customers during the moratorium period, however utilities are not required to restore service for those disconnected prior to the moratorium without appropriate arrangements in place.

In honor of national Drinking Water Week, which runs from May 4, 2025 – May 10, 2025, Manitowoc Public Utilities (MPU) is opening the Water Treatment Plant for public tours. On Wednesday, May 7th, tours will run every 15-minutes between the hours of 4:00PM and 5:30PM.

Manitowoc Public Utilities (MPU) experienced a power outage that affected approximately 4,500 customers late Tuesday, April 29th into early morning Wednesday, April 30th. A raccoon got into a substation causing the transmission breakers to open, which caused the outage.

Manitowoc Public Utilities would like to advise customers who are behind on their utility bills that the moratorium for disconnection of residential service ends on April 15th. Customers with past due balances could face disconnection of their utility service unless payments are made to clear the past due amounts or payment arrangements are established, if eligible.
