Treatment Process

a canal of water at a water treatment plant in Manitowoc

The Wastewater Treatment Facility is an environmentally friendly water reclamation facility that uses natural filtering and treatment techniques through much of the treatment process.

The treatment process results in three end products:

  • Biosolids that are beneficially reused by nearby agricultural lands
  • Clean effluent water that is returned to Lake Michigan
  • Methane gas that is fired in boilers and heats the digesters and plant buildings

How does the process work? Check out the video below!
