Manitowoc Public Utilities (MPU) is thrilled to announce that our Community Solar Garden is now live! MPU, in conjunction with a developer, built a 1,500 KW community solar generation facility on Hecker Road just south of Viebahn Street. After many months of construction, the developer commissioned the solar garden inverters, and the solar panels began to produce energy the morning of December 10, 2024.

Beginning November 1st, Wisconsin state law prohibits utilities from disconnecting essential services to residential customers during the moratorium period, however utilities are not required to restore service for those disconnected prior to the moratorium without appropriate arrangements in place.

The Manitowoc Public Utilities (MPU) Commission recently approved a short-term loan to the City of Manitowoc for the purchase of the former Lakeshore and Mid-Cities Mall property. Made official during the Common Council meeting on Monday, April 15th, MPU will provide a loan of $6.3 million to be repaid within three years.
