About MPU

What are your office hours and location?

We have one office with customer service personnel. The address is 1303 S. 8th Street. The office hours are 8:00 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. The office is closed for the following holidays: New Year's Day, Friday before Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve.

Where can I get more information about MPU's facilities?

What do I need to do if I have multiple accounts with MPU?

Good Question! There are many customers with multiple accounts.

You can create a single login to manage all the different accounts you have with MPU using the Customer Portal on our website.  Click 'Register Now' from the home page.  Then select Add Account from the Accounts menu option as many times as needed.

What payment methods do you accept? Where can I drop off my payment?

MPU makes paying your bill easy and convenient. Choose the method that's best for you:

  • Return envelope

    A return envelope is sent with your bill. Simply include your bill payment stub with your check or money order, and send it back to us.  If the return envelope is missing, send your payment to Manitowoc Public Utilities, PO Box 41, Manitowoc, WI 54221-0041.

  • Online credit card payment

    You may pay with your credit / debit card using a smartphone, computer or tablet by visiting mpu.org.  Card payments may also be made at the MPU main office at 1303 S. 8th Street using the payment kiosk located in the lobby.  VISA, Master Card, American Express and Discover cards are accepted. You'll need your 6 digit customer and 6 digit account number and there is a $3.85 convenience fee to use this service. Click HERE to pay via credit card.

  • Check or cash

    At our general office at 1303 S. 8th St. We ask that you bring your bill with you when you come in but it is not a requirement.

  • Check or cash

    At City Hall at 900 Quay St. You'll need to have your bill with you to pay at City Hall.

  • After-hours drop box

    In our front parking lot by our main office building at 1303 S. 8th St.  Please include your bill payment stub with your payment.

  • Easy Pay

    This will allow us to take your payment out of your bank account monthly on the due date via ACH transfer. Click HERE to get the instructions and form for you to sign up for Easy Pay.

Other methods of online payment may be offered through your bank. Contact your bank for information on services they provide.

Who do I talk to about billing questions or my account balance?

You can call our Customer Service personnel at phone number 920-683-4600.

Who can make my payment at the general office?

Anyone may drop off a payment on your account, however, due to Wisconsin Act 25, MPU personnel cannot disclose any information about an account, including account balance, to persons not listed on an account. Act 25 provides that Customer Information must be protected from disclosure. Customer information may not be released by MPU to any person without the customer’s consent. Customer information includes the following: Name, Address, Phone Number, Social Security Number, Payment History, Consumption/usage data, and Billing information (including past due amounts). MPU personnel have been instructed to not disclose any of this information without written authorization from the customer. A copy of this authorization form can be found at Customer Consent Form.

What should I do if I am on electric powered life support equipment?

MPU urges these customers to post notification stickers on the front door and windows of the residence to alert utility personnel in the event electricity needs to be turned off.  If you are on oxygen, this is critical to ensure the safety of emergency response personnel in the event of a fire or other emergency.
