The Electrical Engineer provides professional engineering work to plan, evaluate and implement efficient electric and water utility design, operation, maintenance and construction. This position completes work to design, construct, operate and maintain electric distribution, electric substation, revenue metering systems and a variety of electrical power generating and electrical equipment in the water utility. Minimum requirements to apply include Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university; a minimum of five years’ experience in electric utility design, operation, and maintenance; possession of a Wisconsin Professional Engineer License, or ability to acquire upon request; fundamental knowledge of electric utility distribution systems, power generation, substation and transmission facilities; and knowledge of personal computing and SCADA systems.

This Environmental Engineer provides professional engineering services to ensure regulatory compliant electric and water utility operations and maintenance. This position interprets regulations and permits, organizes and executes action plans, creates budgets and schedules, and employs contractors, consultants, utility employees, and equipment to ensure environmental and other regulatory compliance programs for MPU. Minimum requirements to apply include Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university; a minimum of five years' experiance in a power generating facility or related field; possession of a Wisconsin Professional Engineer License, or ability to acquire upon request; experience with environmental compliance testing, permitting, CEMS and reporting, knowledge of application and enforcement of state and federal regulations.

The Journeyman Line Technician requires skills in constructing and maintaining electric power facilities up to 69 kilovolts. A complete understanding of all safety practices and procedures of high voltage electric work is necessary. Minimum requirements to apply include Journeyman Lineman certification with a Certificate of Apprenticeship in Electric Line Trade and minimum five years of journeyman experience. A two-year degree in a related field of study is preferred but will consider the right candidate with equivalent training and experience.

This Mechanic position involves duties related to the maintenance and repair of Power Plant and Water Utility machinery. The person in this position will, at times, direct the work of others, and may be required to direct major projects or outages with minimal direct supervision. Requirements for this position include positive work habits, demonstration of leadership qualities and good judgment, good physical condition, and the desire to progress. Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: strong mechanical aptitude along with a thorough knowledge of the mechanical maintenance, installation, operation and repair procedures of mechanical equipment. A minimum of five (5) years of experience is desired. A two-year college degree in the mechanical maintenance field is preferred. A maintenance mechanic journeyman status or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills and abilities may be considered.

This full-time water department position primarily involves duties that include the control, operation, and maintenance of the state-of-the-art Microfiltration Water Treatment Plant and related production facilities, and maintenance and repair of the water distribution system and related facilities. Working hours are primarily first shift, with occasional second shift and weekend work. Minimum requirements to apply include completion of a two-year associate degree supplemented by technical school courses in the water field. The possession of a WDNR Operator Certification in Groundwater, Distribution, or a Subclass S Surface Water certification from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is preferred.

This full-time position primarily involves duties that include monitor, operate, and maintain water and wastewater facilities, distribution, and collection systems; schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance on all plant equipment; record and maintain computerized service records for all plant equipment; occasionally respond to water and sewer calls/alarms; collect water and wastewater samples; and perform other operation and maintenance tasks as assigned. Minimum qualifications to apply include a high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, demonstrated mechanical ability in equipment maintenance, the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, and must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job. Applicants not WDNR certified will need to become certified with the below subclasses within two years. Preferred qualifications include an associate’s degree in water/wastewater technology; experience in water and wastewater plant operations; experience in machinery and pump maintenance; possess a WDNR Water Operator License for G, D and Z subclasses; possess a WDNR Wastewater Operator License for A1, B, C, D, and L subclasses.
