Manitowoc Public Utilities is seeking candidates for the following full-time positions:

JOURNEYMAN LINE TECHNICIAN

The Journeyman Line Technician requires skills in constructing and maintaining electric utility distribution up to 69 kilovolts. A complete understanding of all safety practices and procedures of high voltage electric work is necessary. Minimum requirements to apply include Journeyman Lineman certification with a Certificate of Apprenticeship in Electric Line Trade. A two-year degree in a related field of study is preferred but will consider the right candidate with equivalent training and experience.

METER READER

The Meter Reader requires the ability to: accurately read and record meter readings and volumes used by customers; recognize defects, damage, unauthorized connections, or other irregularities; establish and maintain an effective working relationship with peers and the general public; use good judgment and initiative; good knowledge of record-keeping procedures and office computer programs; advanced algebra skills; good written and oral communication skills; good physical condition; ability to work in extreme cold or hot temperatures and walk several miles per day. High School diploma required.

POWER PLANT INSTRUMENT & CONTROL (I&C) TECHNICIAN

The I&C Technician is responsible for duties related to the maintenance/repair/calibration of Power Plant and Water Utility I&C systems including; continuous emission monitoring, distributed controls, programmable logic controls and programming, digital and analog controls, etc. Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: strong electronics, computer and mechanical aptitudes, and thorough knowledge of instrumentation and vcontrols maintenance, installation, operation, and repair procedures of equipment used in power and water plant industry. A minimum of five (5) years of experience is desired. A two-year college degree in the computer/electronics/instrumentation field is preferred. An equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills and abilities may be considered.

POWER PLANT MECHANIC

This Mechanic position involves duties related to the maintenance and repair of Power Plant and Water Utility machinery. Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: strong mechanical aptitude along with a thorough knowledge of the mechanical maintenance, installation, operation and repair procedures of mechanical equipment. A minimum of five (5) years of experience is desired. A two-year college degree in the mechanical maintenance field is preferred. A maintenance mechanic journeyman status or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills and abilities may be considered.
