Power Outages June 2026

Manitowoc Public Utilities (MPU) experienced two separate large power outages over the weekend. On Saturday, June 27th, a squirrel made contact in our substation affecting about 2,174 customers. Power was restored in less than one hour. On Sunday, June 28th, a tree came down on lines affecting power for about 676 customers. The downed tree caused a challenging repair, but our crews completed it in less than two hours and were able to restore power to those affected.

We’re grateful to our staff for a quick, efficient, and safe response when our customers’ power is impacted. We strive to provide reliable service and are proud to be your public power utility. We appreciate our customers’ patience while we worked safely through restoration.
