Manitowoc Public Utilities (MPU) experienced multiple power outages that affected approximately 1,100 customers on the afternoon of Sunday, March 15th. The extreme high wind caused the power lines of a circuit to gallop, which means they were slapping together, repeatedly causing outages for the same subset of customers. By evening, Electric Distribution staff were able to stabilize the lines, alleviating any further outages.
We strive to provide reliable service and are proud to be your public power utility. We appreciate our customers’ patience while we worked safely through restoration.
