Dial 811 For Diggers Hotline

An August 11 press release from Diggers Hotline reminds us how to prevent digging accidents.

Do you have a backyard project in mind? Going to be digging? Did you know that a failure to call before digging results in more than 200,000 unintentional electrical hits annually across the nation?

And It's SO Easy!
On August 11th, Diggers Hotline sent a reminder to Wisconsin residents about the importance of calling before you dig. The date (8-11) was fitting, because dialing 811 is all it takes to file a free request. With this quick and easy call, you can ensure that buried utility lines are marked, and save your life or the life of someone you love.

You Call, We Mark, You Dig
When your request is processed, Diggers Hotline takes information about your dig site and passes it on to MPU. We then send out our professional field locators to mark the approximate location of buried lines with paint and flags. No hassle, and no questions.

Do I REALLY Need to Call?
Are you digging? Then the simple answer is "YES!" Filing a free request with Diggers Hotline is required by state law before every digging project. Projects such as planting trees or shrubs, building a deck or installing a rural mailbox all require contacting Diggers Hotline three working days before beginning the project.

But it's FREE, it takes only a few minutes, and it could save your life! So why wouldn't you call?

Dial 811 or 1-800-242-8511 to file a request, or go online at www.DiggersHotline.com. Visit www.DiggersHotline.com for more state information about 811 and the call-before-you-dig process.
