Billing & Payment Options

Budget Payment Plan
This plan helps you budget your monthly energy cost by spreading out payments equally over 12 months. This will help you manage high winter bills due to electric heat or high summer bills due to air conditioning. We will average your monthly bills and establish a payment level. Your account will be reviewed every 6 months and the payment will be adjusted to reflect any over-billing or under-billing.

Sprinkling Forgiveness
Sewer charges on your Manitowoc Public Utilities bill are based on the volume of water your home consumes. This assumes that the volume of water flowing into your home is proportional to the volume waste water flowing into the sanitary sewer. In the summer time, many residents water their lawns. Manitowoc Public Utilities automatically credits sewer charges this time of year, so you are not penalized with higher sewer charges.

If you water your lawn, your summer sewer charge will be based on your winter average for the months of December though April. Again, this calculation is automatically made on your bill, so you don't need to call our office to receive the Sprinkling Forgiveness Credit.

Deferred Payment Agreements
If you are having difficulty paying your utility bill, give us a call. You may be able to set up a deferred payment plan to avoid service disconnection. The plan sets up a payment schedule to help pay your current bill and any past due amount. The payment schedule is based on your ability to pay, the size of past due amount, how long the account is past due, and reasons your bill is past due.

Energy and Weatherization Assistance
Income eligible Manitowoc Public Utilities Customers can receive heating assistance through the Manitowoc County Human Services Department. Once qualified, applicants are also eligible for electric assistance and weatherization. For more information and eligibility requirements, click here.
